Join HPOD and the Harvard University Asia Center's Southeast Asia Initiative on November 13th, from 12 noon to 1:30pm US Eastern time, in CGIS South S050, Concourse Level (located at 1730 Cambridge St, Cambridge, MA) for an in-person event to mark the formal release of a thematic report by UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Myanmar on "The Hidden Crisis: Disability Rights in Post-Coup Myanmar."

Persons with disabilities in Myanmar have long faced formidable barriers and systemic exclusion due to widespread stigmatization, in addition to inaccessible infrastructure and ineffective comprehensive social and legal protections. These persistent challenges have only been exacerbated by recent crises, most notably, the military coup of February 2021. At this event, Special Rapporteur Tom Andrews will discuss how his new report lays bare these stark realities and calls on the international community to do more to address the hidden humanitarian crisis.
